About this Project

This website is a personal passion project. It's a collection of food places I've discovered and loved over the past 10 years living in Singapore - a small archive of the meals, memories, and moments shared with friends and family. My hope is that this map becomes useful not only to future visitors, but to anyone curious about Singapore's food culture. If these recommendations help even one person find a memorable meal, or let someone feel the warmth I experienced eating here, then I'll be more than happy.

Food & Code

Back in 2024-2025, I went back to my home country, South Korea to complete my national service. Before enlisting, I worked as a Software Engineer - and during service, I found myself missing the joy of builindg things with code. There was something else I missed just as much: the food in Singapore. While scrolling through old photos of meals shared with my Singaporean friends, I felt inspired. I wanted to create something more than a simple food blog - something interactive, something that lets people explore the memories behind each place. That became the idea for the Foodie's Trail; A 3D food map, combining the two things I love most: food and code.

Singapore in Colour - A visual exploration of Singapore's vibrant colors by The Straits Times

"Singapore in Colour"

by Alex Lim, The Straits Times (August 2023)

The colour palette for this project draws inspiration from this interactive visual story, which explored Singapore's chromatic identity through 2,000+ photographs across different neighbourhoods.

Our palette, inspired by the article:

Built With Passion & Code

Next.js
React.js

HuggingFace
This project combines my passion for web development with my love for Singapore's food scene. The 3D map uses Three.js to bring the MRT-style visualization to life, making food discovery interactive and fun.
